The film follows Laura (Penélope Cruz) on her travels from Argentina to her small home town in Spain for her sister’s wedding, bringing hertwo children along for the occasion. One ofthe wedding guests is Paco (Javier Bardem), a brawny, bearded vineyard owner with a readylaugh and a piratical earring.
Amid the joyful reunion and festivities, Laura’seldest daughter is abducted. In the tensedays that follow, various family and community tensions surface and deeply hidden secretsare revealed.
