Hagstone I
My inspiration comes from my love of the countryside around my home town of Hungerford combined with the varied shorelines around Great Britain and Northern Ireland. A particular favourite place of mine is the Giants Causeway on the Antrim Coast.
Whenever I start a new series of work I am looking to create something unique. Capturing thoughts and ideas on paper in a number of different mediums, pencil, pen paint, collage.
Using my growing collection of sketch books as a reference and then starting with a plain white piece of fabric I aim to create new surface designs and textures with techniques that include dyeing, geli printing, screen printing, stamping, paint, appliqué, embellishing stitch and quilting.
My collection of treasures gleaned from travels to coastal areas include sea glass, driftwood, shells, stones, hag stones, fossils, seaweed and rope are the inspiration for my works.
