An international cellist’s journey
8pm Croft Hall – Tickets £16
In words and music, Robert tells his story from the inspiration of hearing the cello playing the Tchaikovsky Rococo Variations at age 3 in the back of a Morris Minor, to studies with Jacqueline du Pré and Mstislav Rostropovich, his award-winning recording of the Elgar cello concerto and working with Yehudi Menuhin. He tells of the highs and lows of life on the road as a soloist.
Now also a professor and broadcaster, Robert illustrates his experiences with the music of Bach, Brahms, Kodaly, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky, Fauré and other composers.
